When Akdeniz University was established in Antalya in 1982, it included a number of other higher education institutions in Turkey's West Mediterranean region. Since its founding until the present, Akdeniz University has carried out important and innovative work in the areas of education, research, development, and service to society.

Suleyman Demirel University (SDU) is a private higher education institution in the Eurasian republic of Kazakhstan. It is located 20 kilometres from the heart of Almaty city in the mountain town of Kaskelen. In 1996, the university was established as the result of a partnership between Kazakhstan and Turkey. The Business School, Engineering and Natural Sciences, Law and Social Sciences, and Education and Humanities are the present four faculties at SDU. With 81% of its degree programmes taught in English, 16% in Kazakh, and 3% in Russian, SDU has a trilingual educational system.

1992 saw the founding of Harran University. Following years of growth, the university now has 14 faculties, 4 schools, 1 state conservatory, 13 vocational schools, 3 institutes, and 15 research and application centres. Three campuses, 421 programmes, 27,000 students, and 1,250 academic staff members make up Harran University.  

The library has a conference room, reader rooms, collection rooms, internet rooms, group study rooms, a canteen, and administrative service rooms. It has 4 storeys and a closed area of 7900 m2. One thousand people can use the library simultaneously. Ankara is home to the public research institution known as the Middle East Technical University, which was established in 1956. 42 departments and 5 faculties, including Architecture, Arts and Sciences, Economic and Administrative Sciences, Education, and Engineering, are open to international students.
